The Crisis: Why LanCan Care is Needed Now
Addressing the Growing Epidemic of Youth Homelessness
Across the country and right here in Texas, we are facing a silent epidemic. Every year, over a thousand young adults "age out" of the Texas foster care system. Without a stable safety net, many of these resilient individuals find themselves facing an impossible transition.
The Reality of "Aging Out" in Texas:
-
The 40% Statistic: Recent Texas state data shows that within just three years of leaving the system, 40% of aged-out youth experience homelessness, incarceration, or worse.
-
A National Crisis: Nationwide, estimates suggest that as many as 4.2 million youth and young adults experience homelessness each year.
-
The Foster Care Connection: Research indicates that 22–30% of youth who age out of foster care experience homelessness during their transition to adulthood—a rate significantly higher than the general population.
Breaking the Cycle in Beaumont & Surrounding Areas
At LanCan Care, we refuse to accept these statistics as inevitable. Our facility is a direct response to this crisis. We provide the "Missing Bridge" between state care and true independence.
By offering trauma-informed housing and professional life-skills mentorship, we don't just put a roof over their heads—we provide the stability required to ensure our youth never become a part of these statistics.
